Bozeman, Mont. • After winning all four regular-season meets, the University of Utah ski team will face its most important test of the season this week when it travels to Montana for the NCAA West Region/Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association Championships.

The Utes began the meet Wednesday with a NCAA slalom qualifier and will be on the slopes again Thursday for a NCAA giant slalom qualifier.

The West Region/RMISA Championships start Friday at Bridger Bowl with the alpine disciplines. The Nordic portion of the meet also starts Friday at Bohart Ranch. Both continue into Saturday.

"We are ready to get back to competition after a nice recovery week following our successful Alaska campaign," said Utah director of skiing Kevin Sweeney. "We have had excellent training at our home alpine and nordic venues this week, so I feel we are ready to go. With alpine and nordic venues close by, this will be a nice chance for us to be together as a full team. Our focus will be to secure final NCAA qualifying and start seed positions. "

Utah won its second consecutive RMISA regular season championship, marking the first time a team has repeated as regular-season champion since 2008-09. Ute skiers finished first in 12 different races this season and were on the podium 37 times. Utah earned five women’s alpine victories, while the men’s alpine squad won three times.

Ute senior Tii-Maria Romar leads the RMISA women’s MVP standings, just eight points ahead of sophomore teammate Julie Bordeau. Utah senior Nick Cohee is first in the league’s men’s alpine MVP chase, with two more qualifier races remaining.

On the nordic side, the Utes are led by junior Miles Havlick.
