Ephraim • The 2A Boys Basketball Championship began Saturday at Snow College. Here are the results from the first round of play:
Manti 53, North Summit 52 • The Manti Templars came out on top of this close game which could easily have gone either way.

Jason Cole scored 16 points for Manti, followed by Brady Aste’s 14, including one 3-pointer.
Keegan McQueen had a game-high 21 points, including three treys, in a losing effort for the Braves, who are eliminated from the tournament.
Beaver 51, San Juan 43 • The Beaver Beavers were just a hair better versus the San Juan Broncos, and Braxton Williams was a big reason why.
Williams had four 3-pointers — part of his game- and career-high 22 points — helping Beaver advance to a quarterfinal date with Manti.
Barkley Christensen scored 20, including two treys fro San Juan. He was joined in double figures by teammate Logan Meyer, who had 17, with one bucket from beyond the arc.
San Juan goes home, while Beaver will meet Manti in Thursday’s quarterfinal round.
South Sevier 82, Parowan 41 • The South Sevier Rams blew the game open in the second quarter, leaving Parowan in the dust en route to their 21st consecutive victory.
The Rams had five players in double figures, led by Race Parsons’ 21 points. Kaden King and Austin Clark each scored 11, also draining a pair of 3-pointers apiece, while Colton Jones and Jayson Twitchell both had 10, including two treys each.
Ammon Blauer had 16 points for Parowan, including a couple of 3-pointers. The Parowan Rams are eliminated from the tournament.
Waterford 59, Gunnison 54 • The Waterford Ravens made it to the second round, despite a fourth-quarter rally by the Gunnison Bulldogs.
Seven of the 11 players who scored between the two teams did so in double figures. Waterford was led by Seth Monson’s 17 points, which included two 3-pointers. He was followed by teammates Mufi Hunt (14), Alec Monson (12, including three treys) and Ben White (11, two 3-pointers).
Gunnison’s top scorer was Ty Bartholomew, who had 16, including a whopping five 3-pointers. Braden Harris and Colby Caldwell both had 13 apeice, with Caldwell knocking down a pair of treys.
Waterford will take on South Sevier in the quarterfinals, while Gunnison is eliminated from the tournament.
Richfield 52, Millard 33 • Richfield’s Tyler Anderson (18 points) and Jordan Kemp (16) combined to outscore Millard’s entire team, both knocking down three 3-pointers apiece.
Joel Swallow had 15 to lead Millard, which is out of the tournament.
