Skyline faces big rematch
Skyline is assured a trip to the state tournament, but with a tough game against Olympus on Friday, the Eagles need a win to remain in first place in the region standings. A loss would put the Eagles in a three-way tie for first place and could mean a tougher matchup in the state tournament.

Taylorsville still alive for state
Jackson Roper hit a buzzer-beater to give Taylorsville a 74-72 victory over region foe Hunter. The win keeps the Warriors in the hunt for the final playoff spot in Region 2. Taylorsville has two games remaining and needs to win them both, but for a team that endured a nine-game losing streak, anything is possible.
ICS rebounds from tough loss
Intermountain Christian lost to region-leading Layton Christian by 26 points, but held on to defeat third place St. Joseph 36-35. The win means the Lions are all alone in second place in Region 17 and with two games left to play, are looking good for a return trip to the state tournament.
Hillcrest gets season sweep of Murray
Hillcrest has struggled against most of the teams in Region 7, but the Huskies seem to have Murray’s number. Behind 16 points and five rebounds from Austin Adams, Hillcrest defeated the Spartans for the second time this season, and with their next win, or a Murray loss, the Huskies will earn a trip to the state tournament.
Time running out for Cottonwood
The Colts only have two more chances to earn a region win — Friday against Alta and Feb. 21 at Copper Hills. Early in the season, Cottonwood was a respectable 3-4 in non-region play but the rigors of Region 3 have taken their toll as the Colts have gone 1-11 since that time. Senior night on Friday will be a big event as Cottonwood has 12 seniors on its roster.
Olympus seeks revenge
Olympus will face region-leading Skyline on Friday, hungry for revenge. The last time these teams met the Eagles snapped the Titans’ seven-game winning streak. Olympus hasn’t lost since that January meeting, while the Eagles dropped a game to Herriman. A Titan victory would put them back in the race for a region title.
