Cyprus brushes off Bountiful
Bountiful appeared to be Cyprus’ biggest contender for the region title, but when the teams faced off on Friday, Cyprus coasted to a 13-point victory. Lori Parkinson, Julie Caputo and Abby Barrett all scored in double figures. Now, with their big three consistently playing at a high level, it is hard to picture Cyprus losing a region game.
Granger staying afloat, but barely
Granger’s postseason hopes took a huge blow when they lost by 5 to Hunter on Thursday. Caroline Yorgason and Madison Peterson played well in the loss. The Lancers could conceivably get into the state tournament, but it is looking less and less likely.
Hunter, Ramos in rhythm
Dezz Ramos led the Wolverines over Granger with 24 points, including 12 from the free-throw line. Hunter is playing for playoff seeding now, and if the Wolverines catch a break or two, they are still alive in the region race.

Kearns must match Orton’s consistency
Kearns has been struggling with inconsistency. After a good win against Granger, the Cougars lost by 20 points to Taylorsville. BYU commit Micaelee Orton is always solid. The Taylorsville game marked her 14th straight game with at least 11 points and 7 rebounds. The key for Kearns is how the rest of the team plays.
Stansbury making great strides
Bear River snapped Stansbury’s three-game win streak on Thursday. Erika Alvey led the team with 12 points, but she was the only Stallion with more than 5. Stansbury is making great improvements, but is not quite an elite Region 11 team just yet. If they can develop their depth, the Stallions can get closer to becoming one of those teams.
