Cyprus faces best win opportunity

It has been a long season for Cyprus. Friday’s game at Clearfield will be the winless Pirates’ best chance to get a victory, because Clearfield only has one win of its own. Cyprus guard Connor Squire will be the best player on the floor and could give his team the push it needs to get that first win.

Tademy not 100 percent, but playing well for Granger

Isaiah Tademy is playing as if he never left. The Granger senior missed seven games with an injury, but he has come back strong. In his first four games back, he averaged 18.25 points per game. Tademy used a career-high 28 points to help the Lancers snap a nine-game losing streak. With him healthy, Granger still has a fighting chance to sneak into the playoffs.

3OT loss hurts Hunter in region chase

Hunter entered the week as the only Region 2 team with a .500 record this season. Poor offense sets back Kearns

Friday’s trip to Viewmont was disappointing for the Kearns Cougars. Dayon Goodman had a double-double, but no other Kearns player scored more than 4 points. The Cougars led by 2 points after the first quarter, then scored a total of 15 points in the final three periods. The potential is still there for the Cougars, but they need to live up to it in a hurry.

Stansbury survives Grantsville

Stansbury was able to snap a three-game losing skid against Grantsville on Friday, but it wasn’t easy. The Stallions outscored Grantsville 12-0 in the first quarter, nearly gave that lead away and held on to win by a point. It will be critical for the Stallions to play a complete game in every one of their remaining games.
