Bingham

When all was said and done, Bingham was certainly the fourth best team in Region 4. The Miners beat all comers except the three-headed monster of Lehi, Lone Peak and Pleasant Grove who gave Bingham all six of their region losses. The Miners draw into the tournament against Taylorsville who is having a tremendous year. This one could be closer than a first-glance diagnosis would offer. Bingham's strength of schedule could propel them into a second round match against Alta or Layton.

West Jordan

The Jags dropped two of their last three (Alta/Brighton) and fell to the No. 3 seed coming out of Region 3. One of the Jags goals this year was to make it to the second day of the state tournament. The draw looks tough with Fremont in the first round but Mercedes O'Neal and setter Hannah Mohammed lead a talented bunch that finally believe they belong at the big show.

Alta

Alta enters the tournament with just three losses on a vastly improved club from 2010. In order for the Hawks to do some tournament damage, Danielle Emery and Hailey Peterson will need to perform at a very high level. All Region 3 teams got tough draws and the Hawks are no different, opening with a Layton squad that opened the season very strong.

Jordan

Jordan is just 8-13 on the season but one of those dangerous floaters in the tournament. The Beetdiggers improved late in the season and although they lost to the Brighton, Alta and West Jordan, they started taking games from them. A first round upset against Davis looks improbable so the Beetdiggers will likely need to work their magic coming through the nonwinners bracket.

Juan Diego

With volleyball giants Morgan and Snow Canyon stealing the show at the 3A tournament, you gotta figure the Soaring Eagle are happy with their fourth place finish in the state meet. A midseason coaching change brought Todd Halzhauser into the mix but Juan Diego players Jessica Long and Rachel Enloe played at a high level every night.

Lone Peak

Lone Peak is certainly not the dominant team that captured gold in the 2010 5A tournament. Don't count the Knights out though as their final two regular season wins came against Lehi and Pleasant Grove. Kenzie Willey, Brynne Sorrell, Mackie Mullane and Makenna Santiago have state championship experience and should be ready to go on the biggest of stages. The Knights open with Hunter and it wouldn't be an upset to see them move past Brighton or Northridge for another date in the semifinals.

Pleasant Grove

The Vikings know how it feels to lose a state championship, now they want to know the elation of a state title. Pleasant Grove tied with Lone Peak and Lehi for the Region 4 title but earned the No.2 seed after the coin flip. Kearns shouldn't be a problem in the first round but Davis looming in round two is a match more deserving of the latter stages of the 5A tourney. That match will be one of the defining moments of the 5A tournament as Region 1 and Region 4 ultimately battle for state bragging rights.

Lehi

It has been a tremendous year for the Lehi Pioneers, tying for a region title with volleyball giants Lone Peak and Pleasant Grove. The Pioneers won the coin flip as the No. 1 seed and face Viewmont in the first round. Another Region 1 vs. Region 4 matchup in the quarters, as the Pioneers are likely to face a very talented Fremont squad. This team has the engine in setter Shelby Sorenson and two Division one outside hitters in Bree Bailey and Madi Memmot to carry them deep into the tournament.
