Fremont • Fremont won their final match of the season, but their second seeding was already a bygone conclusion. The Falcons will face West Jordan at home this Friday in the first round, and will likely face No. 1 Lehi if they can advance. Lehi is always in the championship mix, but showed vulnerability in their final match with a loss to Lone Peak. Fremont's front line will have difficulty stopping the power of Bree Bailey and Madi Memmott.

Davis • The Darts accomplished their first goal of the season by winning an outright Region 1 championship, and now will begin work on their second goal of a state championship. Davis finished third last year and has the pieces in place to make a run. The Darts should cruise past Jordan in the first round, but face No. 2 Pleasant Grove in the second round. Davis has no weaknesses in their lineup. If they can get past Pleasant Grove, the momentum should boost them into the finals.

Layton • The Lancers five-game winning streak ended, as expected, against Davis last week, but Layton still did well enough to finish with the third seed after upsetting Fremont and beating Northridge at home. The Lancers face an Alta team that has won seven of their last eight matches. Danielle Emery and Hailey Peterson will be a wall to get past for the smaller Layton team.

Northridge • Northridge lost their final match of the year against Fremont and whimper into the playoffs losing four of their last six. Still, they face Brighton in the first round, a team that suffered early season injuries and is vulnerable. Allora Tanner and Liz Goodrich will try to lead the team to a first round upset, but don't expect them to be competitive against defending champion Lone Peak in the next round if they can move on.

Viewmont • Viewmont won three of their last four matches, but didn't have enough to avoid a fourth seed and a first round matchup with dominant Lehi. The Vikings will have trouble getting in position for blocks as Shelby Sorensen is one of the better setters in the state and always seems to put the ball where it needs to go. The victory for Viewmont this year may be simply making the playoffs in a new region, but don't expect an upset here.

Bonneville • The Lakers closed out the season with strength, winning their last three matches to vault into the three seed out of Region 5. Tavia Young and Cortney Porter are a powerful force up front. They'll face Olympus, a team that has had an up and down season but remain dangerous. Crystal Faletoi is a solid blocker and should be a difficult matchup for the Lakers.

Bountiful • Bountiful had a difficult loss against bitter rival Woods Cross in their final match, their first loss in region and enough to drop them from the top seed into the second seed in the playoffs. The loss drops them from an easy matchup against Orem to what should be a hard fight against Maple Mountain. The Braves should still win, but the second round will likely set them up against a Skyline team that has won 13 of their last 14 matches.

Woods Cross • The Wildcats shot at revenge ended in victory over Bountiful and a top seed in the playoffs out of Region 6. They'll face what should be a cakewalk win against Orem before facing two winnable teams in either Olympus or Bonneville in the second round. Woods Cross is coming together at the right time and may have one of the easiest paths to the championship for their efforts.
