Sandy • The subdued celebration following Ogden's 2-1 victory against Park City in the Class 3A semifinals Friday spoke volumes about the Tigers' ultimate goal.

"Our goal this season is to take state, and we didn't do that here. We do that [Saturday]," said senior captain Cassie Hanson, who scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute. "Right now we can think about this game for 20 more seconds and then we'll think about [the final]."

Ogden (16-2) won its 14th consecutive game and is a win away from its second state championship — the first since 2001. The Tigers play Cedar in Saturday's final at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Park City jumped ahead on a Jessica Dancy goal in the 34th minute. But 15 minutes later, Ogden's Kiley Porter sent a shot from 25 yards out that goalkeeper Skye Mooney mishandled to even the score.

Ogden had several chances in the second half of a physical game, but were turned away again and again. Until Hanson delivered.

"At practice, our coach has been telling us to turn quick and take shots," said Hanson, who had made a nice move around defender Emily Corrington and bounced the ball into the net off the right post. "And that's just what we did. Fake to one side, go left and take a shot."

Ogden coach Jason Steiner said fatigue will be a concern in today's final. The Tigers have not played games on consecutive days this season, and they lost starting defender Dylan Bray to a left knee injury in the final minute.

"It looks like Dylan is done, and we've got some other injuries we'll have to see about," Steiner said. "It's going to be tough, but Cedar City has to do the same thing, too."
