Makenzi Morrison talks Alta's win (VIDEO), and other extras
Published on Feb 21, 2012 06:00PM

Alta pulled out a first-round win against Davis today, and Makenzi Morrison talked to the Tribune briefly about the game, her performance and the Hawks' title hopes.

Also, I didn't want to leave anyone hanging on more details about Alta coach Kristi Jensen's baby. I mention it somewhat casually in the story, but Jensen's pregnancy was actually clouding whether or not she'd be able to coach in the state tournament.

Jensen was originally set to deliver in early March, after the tournament was over. But during a doctor's visit on Wednesday, Jensen was told she would have to induce labor. Jensen teasingly blamed Alta's close win over Cottonwood the night before for her predicament.

Said Jensen: "I was at practice on Wednesday, and I told them, 'It's your fault I have to have this baby!'"

Jensen gave birth to a son, Seth, on Thursday. She wasn't sure if she would be able to return for the playoff run, but she returned to work on Monday. Her sister and her husband are taking turns caring for the baby while she's coaching the team.

Also in the story, I mentioned that the team dedicated the game to Jensen and her son. They wore baby blue shoelaces — It's a boy! — and gave Jensen a gift. Of course, as I wrote, Jensen was happier that the Hawks won.

Stay with the Tribune for all the playoff news and results.
